Pandemic-Born Creativity
Black Sheep Craft Ice Cream started when Zac Turgeon from Dracut, MA got a home ice cream machine as a Christmas gift during the pandemic. What began as a hobby quickly grew into something more as Zac wanted to move beyond basic flavors and create bold, unique ice cream. With help from the Entrepreneurship Center and a microloan program, his small-batch craft ice cream business was born in Blackstone, MA.
Bold Flavors
Black Sheep stands out with flavors you won’t find elsewhere:
- Basil with White Chocolate Shards
- Pumpkin Spice Latte
- Oat Cereal with Rainbow Marshmallows
- Coming soon: popcorn ice cream with cheddar-caramel swirls and goat cheese ice cream with chili mango swirls
Zac rolls out new flavors every two weeks, so there’s always something fresh to try.
About the Owner
Zac’s philosophy is simple but brave: make ice cream that might not be for everyone but will be someone’s absolute favorite. He uses ice cream as a way to express creativity and connect with the community.
Fun Facts
- Zac names his flavors after people or characters (like “Letts” for his mom Colette)
- The name “Black Sheep” came from designing a logo that looked like a sheep-shaped ice cream cone
- He plans to grow by bringing portable carts to fairs, markets, and events
- Each serving comes in an 8-ounce portion
Black Sheep Craft Ice Cream is for people who want to try something different—ice cream that breaks the rules in the best possible way.
