The Scoop on History
Tucked away in West Falmouth, Eulinda’s Ice Cream shop sits in a historic building with deep roots. The shop is named after Eulinda Bowman, a local Post Mistress born around 1897 who later married Lester Avery Bourne. Their family was the last to own Bourne Farm, which Eulinda deeded to her children before her death in 1971.
Inside, old photos on the walls let you peek into the neighborhood’s past while enjoying your ice cream.
What Makes Their Ice Cream Special
Eulinda’s is famous for massive scoops – what they call “one scoop” looks more like three! They keep track of available flavors on a big chalkboard next to the counter. When flavors sell out, they get crossed off.
Popular flavors include:
- Green Monster: Mint ice cream packed with Oreo cookies and fudge swirl
- Coffee Kahlua Brownie: Coffee ice cream with Kahlua and brownie chunks
- Maine Black Bear: Red raspberry ice cream with raspberry truffles
- Maple Walnut: A hidden gem that staff say deserves more love
Location and Hours
You’ll find Eulinda’s at 634 West Falmouth Highway (Route 28A) in Falmouth, MA. They operate seasonally, typically closing during colder months (fall through early spring). During the season, they’re generally open from noon, but it’s best to check their current hours online or call ahead before visiting.
More Than Just Ice Cream
Eulinda’s shares space with Village Café, so there’s plenty of indoor seating. Most people prefer the picnic tables outside when weather permits.
The shop does more than sell ice cream – it’s a community hub. The parking area behind the shop serves as a meeting spot for local clean-up events organized by the West Falmouth Village Association.
