The Story
Somerset Creamery began in 1937 when Victor and Mary Spanick opened their first ice cream shop in Somerset, Massachusetts. The business grew over decades, with the Cataumet location on Cape Cod opening in 1997. This shop on Route 28A is run by Victor’s grandson Jason, making him the family’s second ice cream maker in a tradition that now spans three generations.
What Makes It Special
Somerset Creamery stands out for its dedication to traditional ice cream making. They use premium ingredients and stick to time-honored recipes developed by the original founders. Their commitment to quality shows in their rich, creamy ice cream made “the old-fashioned way” with 16% fat cream – a higher standard that results in exceptionally smooth texture and flavor.
